AU-1 Hybrid Construction Sealant is a single-component, highperformance waterproof construction sealant featuring superior adhesion, flexibility and durability. It is a silyl-terminated polyether adhesive sealant with elastomeric qualities. AU-1 Hybrid can be applied on damp surfaces, and in areas where moisture is frequently prevalent. Once cured, this sealant is mildew resistant, UV stable, and forms a permanent, waterproof seal, adhering to most common building substrates. It has very low VOC content meeting both CARB non-chemically curing sealant VOC (less exempt solvents): <1.5% and SCAQMD (less water and exempt compounds): <50 g/L requirements. AU-1 Hybrid was designed to perform in all climates, and will maintain adhesion and flexibility in the harshest of conditions.

Surfaces to be sealed must be free of all dirt, dust, oil, mildew, loose paint, old caulk or other contaminants. Do not apply on surfaces that are hotter than 140°F or that will exceed 220°F.
AU-1 Hybrid comes ready to use. U-shaped joints should have the proper size backer rod or bond breaker tape installed to prevent 3-point adhesion. The sealant must reach deepest point of the joint. Tooling the joint to a concave is recommended. Smooth bead with a moistened cloth. 90° joints can be tooled to a minimum bead size of 3/8”. Allow 60 minutes prior to painting or before exposure to water.
Immediately after use, clean equipment with mineral spirits. Excess cured sealant must be cut or scraped away. Remove thin films by abrading.

AU-1 Hybrid Frequently Asked Questions
Does AU-1 Hybrid require a primer?
No — AU-1 Hybrid is generally considered a non-priming sealant. It's the user's responsibility to check adhesion of the cured sealant on typical test joints at the project site before and during application.
How fast does AU-1 Hybrid cure?
It's water-ready and paintable in as little as 1 hour. Tooling time is 10–15 minutes, skin-forming time is 20 minutes, and full cure is 24–72 hours depending on joint configuration, temperature, and humidity.
Can AU-1 Hybrid be applied in cold weather?
Yes. It's built for easy application in cold environments, with an application temperature range of 21°F to 140°F — well below what most sealants require.
Can AU-1 Hybrid be used below grade?
Yes. Below-grade application is listed among its suggested uses, along with expansion joints, concrete panel joints, tilt-wall/precast joints, EIFS, and building envelope waterproofing.
What joint size and movement can AU-1 Hybrid handle?
It seals joints up to 2" with proper joint design and handles 50% (±25%) dynamic joint movement, exceeding ASTM C-920 Type-S, NS, Class 25.
What substrates does AU-1 Hybrid bond to?
Concrete, masonry, aluminum, wood, glass, natural stone, stucco, ceramic/porcelain tile, galvanized metal, vinyl siding, and PVC — plus building wrap and Kynar®-coated materials.
Can AU-1 Hybrid be applied to damp surfaces?
Yes. It's formulated to apply on damp surfaces and in areas where moisture is frequently prevalent, while still forming a permanent, waterproof seal once cured.
What's AU-1 Hybrid's service temperature range once cured?
-75°F to 220°F, and it remains UV stable and mildew resistant across that range.

Priming
AU-1 Hybrid is generally considered a non-priming sealant. It is the user’s responsibility to check the adhesion of the cured sealant on typical test joints at the project site before and during application — consult Technical Services for additional information.
Substrate Preparation
Surfaces to be sealed must be free of all dirt, dust, oil, mildew, loose paint, old caulk or other contaminants. Do not apply on surfaces that are hotter than 140°F or that will exceed 220°F.
Installation
AU-1 Hybrid comes ready to use. U-shaped joints should have the proper size backer rod or bond breaker tape installed to prevent 3-point adhesion. The sealant must reach the deepest point of the joint. Tooling the joint to a concave is recommended. Smooth the bead with a moistened cloth. 90° joints can be tooled to a minimum bead size of 3/8″. Allow 60 minutes prior to painting or before exposure to water.
Cure Time
@ 75°F (24°C), 50% relative humidity, joint size ½″ × ¼″
At standard conditions, total cure is reached in about 24 hours and paint can be applied after 1 hour. The cure of AU-1 Hybrid varies with temperature and humidity — lower temperatures and/or lower humidity will extend curing times, and painting should be delayed in those cases until the sealant has had time to cure. Once cured, service temperature range is -75°F (-40°C) to 220°F (104°C).
Clean-Up / Removal
Immediately after use, clean equipment with mineral spirits. Excess cured sealant must be cut or scraped away. Remove thin films by abrading.
Shelf Life & Storage
10.1 oz cartridges: 12 months when properly stored. Store in original, unopened containers, away from heat and direct sunlight. Keep from freezing.

*This TDS lists two different figures for how quickly a workable surface forms: the spec box on page 1 gives "Skin Forming Time: 20 Minutes," while the certification table on page 3 gives "Skin Over Time (MNA Method): 40 mins." Those may be two genuinely different test methods, or one may be a typo — worth confirming with whoever owns the TDS before this goes live, since a customer or an AI engine could easily quote either one as "the" skin time.
